Hand Lanterns
On this page, you’ll find our collection of antique hand lanterns, the predecessors of modern flashlights. These versatile lamps were used everywhere—from homes as small utility lights to outdoor and professional applications.
One popular type you’ll often encounter features faceted glass panels. These are typically rectangular lanterns with a top handle and rear grips, where the glass slides in from the front.
There also models with a large convex lens, known as bullseye lanterns. These were widely used by police officers as early flashlights and often came with a sliding shutter, allowing the lantern to be turned “off” or even used for signaling.
Perfect for collectors, history enthusiasts, or anyone looking for authentic vintage lighting.
