Vintage Riemann Carbide Lamp with Feuerhand Top, Marked RAD (Reichsarbeitsdienst)
This carbide lamp combines a Riemann carbide tank with the top of a Feuerhand hurricane lantern. The tank is marked RAD, the abbreviation of the Reichsarbeitsdienst (Reich Labour Service).
In the 1910s and 1920s, Feuerhand made its own carbide lanterns, models 301 and 303. From 1940 onwards, Feuerhand hurricane lanterns were converted into carbide lamps by Friwo (Friemann & Wolf) and Riemann; this was done with models 305, 201 and 175.
The glass is marked Feuerhand.
Height: 49 cm (excluding handle)
Working order unknown; the lamp has not been tested. The carbide burner tip is missing.
A distinctive combination of Riemann and Feuerhand, with the RAD marking still clearly visible on the tank.
