Vintage Swiss Fourgon Lantern (Candle Lantern, 1930s/40s)
Old candle lantern, known as a Fourgon Lantern, with a side-mounted candle holder. Reportedly Swiss, used by the Swiss Army. The "glass" was originally Cellon, an early type of plastic, though the material currently fitted is likely a later replacement.
Fourgon is French for wagon or cart; this type of lantern was often hung from the shaft of a vehicle. (Source: Zirkel-im-licht.de)
Suitable as a decorative lantern, or as an addition to a collection.
Dimensions:
Height excluding hanger: 29 cm
Diameter: 14 cm (excluding candle holder)
Dating: unknown, estimated 1930s/1940s.
A regular candle is currently included. The lantern was originally designed for a 25 mm candle, so it sits a bit loosely, but it's held in place by a small aluminium candle holder.
