Old rear marker lamp (tail signal), painted red, in vintage condition, reportedly from municipal public works, with red filter lenses.
These lamps were commonly used on vehicles as rear markers or tail lights, marking the front or back of a wagon or other equipment — hence the heavy mounting bracket on the back. According to the previous owner, "GW" stands for Gemeente Werken (Municipal Works), though this isn't certain.
Coloured glass filters can be slid in front of the lenses inside the lamp, and the side panels contain red glass.
Shows light signs of age. Suitable for a collection, or for use as lighting at home, in the garden, or while travelling.
Fitted with a new wick, used only with pure kerosene. The oil reservoir originally had a small rod to make it easier to remove, but this is no longer present.
