Batela is the name of this BAT 158 model by VEB Sturmlaternenwerk of Beierfeld, Germany. This version is made of tombac, a copper alloy, and most likely dates from the 1970s.

The fount reads BAT No 158.

The lantern has a black reflector and a chain. In this form it was marketed as a camping lantern.

The globe is the original one and marked Cristal, although that marking has faded somewhat.

It burns kerosene, has been fitted with a new wick, and is in working order.

Condition is very good.
