Vintage BAT No. 159 Hurricane Lantern from East Germany – Marked Made in GDR, Globe Marked BAT is Brightest – c. 1970–1989
The BAT No. 159 is a hurricane lantern from the GDR, built somewhere between roughly 1970 and 1989.
Its markings sit in three places on the fount: Made in to the left of the filler opening, GDR to the right of it, and on the opposite side BAT with the bat logo and No. 159. The filler cap carries the bat logo as well.
The globe is marked with the bat logo and the words BAT is brightest.
It burns kerosene. The wick holder takes a 5''' wick (12 x 0.6 x 170 mm), and a full fount gives around twenty hours of burning time.
Condition is very good. The fount has been treated with a tank sealer.
Measurements:
Height: approx. 26 cm (10.2 in)

Twenty hours on a single filling — enough for a whole evening outdoors, and the next one too.
