A candle lantern with coloured glass panes, marked Number 1 and most likely from France, in beautiful vintage condition.

Lanterns of this kind were used as hand lanterns or hanging lamps. They are difficult to date, but this one probably dates from 1900-1940. On the back, below the handle, it is marked number 1.

The glass panes are probably not original, and there are several different kinds in it, two of which are plastic: the blue and the red one. Even so, it gives the lantern a lovely look, and for that reason I have not replaced the panes.

On the side there is also a protective grille for the glass.

Height including hanging loop: 29 cm (11.4 in), width: 11 cm (4.3 in).

As can be seen, it shows the marks of time and is also slightly out of true/balance. See the photos as well.
