Special hurricane lantern – Feuerhand 276 STK Sturmkappe – in good, usable condition.
An early version, identifiable by the small ventilation holes in the chimney shroud — later models typically have noticeably larger holes. Fitted with the rare, marked Auer glass.
The Sturmkappe was an innovation designed to protect the flame more effectively against wind, hence the marking "garantiert sturmsicher" (guaranteed stormproof). These lanterns are still good for practical use today.
Shows signs of age. Suitable for a collection, or for use as lighting at home, in the garden, or on holiday.
This is the Feuerhand Baby 276 Sturmkappe, produced in Western Germany, with the marked Auer glass — significantly less common than Jenaer glass. This example dates from the 1950s/60s.
