Special hurricane lantern – Feuerhand 276 STK Sturmkappe – in good, usable condition.

This is an early version, identifiable by the small ventilation holes in the chimney shroud; most later models have noticeably larger holes. It is also fitted with the rare, marked Auer glass.

The Sturmkappe was an innovation designed to protect the flame more effectively against wind. The lantern is therefore marked “garantiert sturmsicher” (guaranteed stormproof). These lanterns are still excellent for practical use today.

Naturally, it shows signs of age, which add to the character and charm of the hurricane lantern.
A beautiful addition to any collection, but also perfectly suitable as functional lighting in the home, garden, or on holiday.

This is the Feuerhand Baby 276 Sturmkappe, produced in Western Germany.
It comes with the marked Auer glass, which is significantly less common than the Jenaer glass.
This particular example dates from the 1950s/60s.
