Special hurricane lantern – Feuerhand 276 STK Sturmkappe – in good usable condition.
An early version, recognizable by the absence of ventilation holes in the chimney shroud, and fitted with a rare, marked Auer glass.
The Sturmkappe was a design innovation meant to give the flame better protection against strong wind — hence the marking "garantiert sturmsicher" (guaranteed stormproof). These lanterns still work well for everyday use.
Shows signs of age, giving it some patina. Suitable for a collection, or for practical lighting at home, in the garden, or while travelling.
This is the Feuerhand Baby 276 Sturmkappe, produced in Western Germany, with the marked Auer glass, less common than Jenaer glass. This piece dates from the 1950s/60s.
