French SIF 500 hurricane lantern, in nice, fully usable condition. The base is marked "SIF Double Font", referring to the manufacturer Société Industrielle de Ferblanterie, a major producer of storm lamps in the mid-20th century. Likely from the 1950s–1970s.

One notable feature is the non-original glass globe, decorated with a bird with outstretched wings. SIF lanterns were originally fitted with plain, unmarked glass, so this replacement globe stands out. The glassmaker is unknown.

Good working order, fitted with a new wick, used only with clean kerosene.

Suitable for a collection, or as lighting at home, in the garden, or on holiday.
