Rare Vintage Pigeon Oil Lamp – Exceptional Example with Unique Painted Glass (c. 1920–1930)
Vintage Pigeon oil lamp with an unusual glass chimney. Likely an early model, dating from around 1920–1930.
The front has original embossed text, including "Lampe Pigeon" and "Garantie Véritable", with additional lettering below, and at the bottom two emblems marked 1885 and 1886. Between the emblems is the pigeon motif the lamp is named for.
The glass chimney is more decorative than the versions usually seen, with a shaped rim and painted details that give a warm light when lit.
Inside the reservoir, absorbent cotton regulates the oil, letting the lamp burn for a long time.
Shows light signs of age, as expected for a vintage item. A few tiny marks on the glass; it hasn't been cleaned with stronger products, to preserve the original painted decoration.
Suitable for a Pigeon lamp collection or as a decorative piece on its own.
