Railway signal lamp from the Dutch manufacturer J.J. van Dijk, Utrecht. Copper and brass, complete and in working condition, with a distinctive burner design.

Unmarked on this piece, but matches identical models that carry the J.J. van Dijk signature. Van Dijk supplied numerous lamps to the NS (Dutch National Railways).

Distinctive features:
Red glass panel mounted in a hinged door with a secure latch
Door can be swung open and fixed to the side for normal light
Originally used as a hand lantern and signal lamp, for railway shunting and signaling
