Rare Feuerhand 276 Work Lantern – Heavy-Duty Cage Frame – Vintage & Functional

A fantastic and highly unusual Feuerhand 276 work lantern, complete with a heavy steel protective cage. The lantern is in working, vintage condition and still carries plenty of character.

The maker of the steel frame is unknown, but several similar examples have surfaced over the years. It is likely that a blacksmith custom‑built these reinforced holders around the Feuerhand 276 STK (Sturmkappe) to create a more durable work or breakdown lantern. The frame is made of thick steel, and the lantern hangs from sturdy steel chain links. Originally painted yellow, it was later repainted black — likely at the same time the cage was added. Comes with red glass, adding to its distinctive look.

A rare opportunity to add something truly special to a collection, or to use as an authentic, rugged work lantern.

This is the Feuerhand Baby 276 STK, Sturmkappe, fitted with marked red glass. The glass is not the original red Feuerhand glass; it was likely colored by a previous owner.

Naturally, it shows signs of age — rust, dents on the top and bottom, and it stands slightly off‑straight — but all of this contributes to its vintage charm. Despite the wear, it remains fully usable. Perfect for collectors, but also excellent for practical lighting at home, in the garden, or on trips.
