Rare Antique Train Lantern – Rencker & Zonen Utrecht (c. 1890)
Antique hand lantern oil lamp from around 1890, manufactured by Rencker & Zonen, Utrecht. A very old example, showcasing craftsmanship from a Dutch metal foundry.
The original plate reads "Rencker & Zonen Fabrikanten Utrecht", with an emblem featuring two lions and a crown. Rencker & Zonen operated from 1844 to circa 1932, producing copper and metal goods, including railway equipment.
These lanterns were widely used as hand lamps on and around the railways, for signaling and shunting. This model has two handles, one on top and one at the back.
