Rare 1920s Brass Ship’s Lantern by Ets. Girardin – Dual Fuel (Oil & Candle) – Marine Marked
Brass ship's lantern from the 1920s, made by the French manufacturer Ets. Girardin, suitable for both oil and candle use — an uncommon feature.
These lamps were typically used as cabin lanterns; the marking "Lanterne Marine" confirms the maritime origin. The lantern is in working condition.
Shows signs of wear, as expected for a lamp of this age — see photos for details.
A construction detail worth noting: the brass is folded around the glass, visible at the bottom. The upper section was glued at some point in the past, not very neatly and not in the original alignment, which is why the label now sits slightly crooked at the back.
The glass has some irregularities, likely present from manufacture.
Usable as an oil lamp, or as a decorative maritime piece.
Height (excluding handle): 24 cm
