Feuerhand WarnFackel Diesel K8002 warning flare, historically used on and alongside roads to mark accidents and hazardous areas. Working condition, with the original storm matches still stored inside the lid.
Most examples encountered have the later ribbed fuel tank design. This is the earlier smooth-tank version, produced in smaller numbers and harder to find.
Background: developed by Nier-Feuerhand, the WarnFackel was used until the 1960s–1970s. Designed to run on diesel fuel, but also burns well on lamp oil or similar fuels.
The flare produces a high, heavily sooted flame and cannot be blown out — the flame must be extinguished by placing the lid back on top (gloves recommended). Like other traditional warning flares, it uses a large round wick.
⚠ Do not light indoors. The flame burns very high and should be handled with care.
