Fantastic Large Copper Ship's Lamp, Navigation Light, Masthead Light by the Belgian Maker Tavernier
This large copper ship's lamp is a masthead light by the Belgian maker Tavernier.
In very good and complete condition, with a fantastic patina. The combination of copper and bronze is especially beautiful.
The glass is in good condition; only a small piece is missing in two corners. It still has the original oil reservoir, and the glass chimney is included.
Tavernier is a Belgian manufacturer that produced many ship's lamps. This one probably dates from between 1948 and the 1950s, because the company moved to the Hendrik Baalskaai in 1948.
It is also marked with approval number 6109 and the BI logo, so it was approved in Belgium by the Federal Public Service Mobility and Transport.
The glass is marked GGG, which stands for Genthe Glass Goslar.
A masthead light is fitted at the front of a ship as navigation lighting.
Height excluding bracket: 49 cm
Weight: 5.6 kg
For paraffin, fitted with a new wick and including the glass chimney.
A real eye-catcher in any interior, with a fantastic patina and copper and bronze details.
