Extremely Rare BAT 200 Red Line Cold Blast Hurricane Lantern – Made in Germany - pre war

Extremely rare vintage BAT 200 Red Line hurricane lantern in outstanding condition, featuring beautiful red details and a fantastic original marked glass globe.

This model was only produced for a very short period, approximately between 1960 and 1965, making it a highly desirable collector’s item.The Bat 200 was manufactured in several batches; this is a pre-war model, so it was still produced by Stübgen. Presumably in the 1930s or 1940s.

One of the most interesting features of the BAT 200 is that it is a large Cold Blast hurricane lantern. This style was commonly produced by American manufacturers, but was much less common among German lantern makers. In Germany, similar models were mainly known from Frowo, and according to collectors, some parts may have been produced in cooperation with Frowo at the Beierfeld factory.

The glass globe is truly exceptional, featuring a highly detailed bat logo. The markings include:

• Left side: “Red Line”
• Right side: “BAT 200”
• Below the bat logo: “Cold Blast – Made in Germany – Fabriqué en Allemagne”

The “Red Line” name refers to the distinctive red details, including the red line on the fuel cap and originally also on the wick holder. Most of the red marking on the wick holder has faded over time.

The overall condition is fantastic. Even the inside remains shiny, indicating that this lantern has seen very little use.

Naturally, there are some light signs of age, adding to its authentic vintage character without taking away from its exceptional condition.

A remarkable addition to any serious hurricane lantern or German lighting collection, while also remaining fully suitable as atmospheric lighting for the home, garden, camping, or holiday use.
