Rare German signal lamp, manufactured by FR. Weber & Co, Berlin, in working condition.
Key features:
Original design with wooden handle, copper rivets, and a copper-lined chimney interior
Three custom-made coloured glass inserts (red, green, blue) that fit into the rear compartment, held in place by a spring mechanism, allowing them to slide in front of the light
Non-original wick holder, but period-correct and functional
Hanging eye on the handle for suspension; solder marks on the back suggest a former mounting bracket
Background: FR. Weber & Co was a German metalworks manufacturer active between 1890 and 1950, known for producing munitions, weapons, and oil lamps. Signal lanterns like this were commonly used for traffic signaling and railway shunting operations.
Shows light signs of age. Slightly tilted, but structurally sound.
