Exceptional Blackout Candle Lantern – DRGM – Blue & Clear Glass – c. 1940s
Old blackout candle lantern / hand lantern with blue and clear glass, marked DRGM, in well-preserved condition. Presumed to date from the 1940s.
The original candle is still included, so the lantern hasn't been lit.
Reportedly produced in the 1940s by Firma Ahner, Vienna, a manufacturer of household goods.
This type of lantern was used as a hand lantern, particularly during wartime. The blue light was intended for blackout conditions, as it's far less visible from a distance than white light.
A decorative piece with historical character, suitable for a collection.
