BAT 158 Hurricane Lantern – Made in Germany – 1950s/60s

Beautiful and fully functional German hurricane lantern by BAT, model BAT 158 Made in Germany, in attractive vintage and working condition. A charming piece with character and a unique appearance.

This lantern features a distinctive original fuel cap with factory markings:
1 inside a triangle – 38/369/0106

This marking refers to the former German quality classification system introduced in June 1950. The “1” indicates quality class 1: products of good quality meeting the average standards of the world market. Manufacturer number 369 is believed to be linked to production in Beierfeld, likely dating this lantern to the 1950s or early 1960s.

The lantern still has its original glass, featuring the well-known Christal logo, although the marking has faded somewhat over time.

Naturally, the lantern shows light signs of age and use. It also has some small “bleeding” spots in the tin plating, giving it an authentic vintage appearance and extra character.

A wonderful addition to any collection, but also still perfectly usable as atmospheric lighting for the home, garden, camping, or holidays.
