Antique hand lantern by Fr. Stübgen & Co., Erfurt (Germany), probably number 1016. A small, compact lantern, 5" (approx. 12.7 cm) high.

  • Tinplate body with a brass roof embossed with the bat (Fledermaus) emblem
  • Beveled glass panes
  • Brass wick wheel with bat logo
  • Wire carrying bail

You don't come across these lanterns from Stübgen & Co very often—especially not with a brass dome. Everyone has a special spot for this beauty.

Condition: age-related patina on the tinplate. The fount holder has been secured with JB Weld, and traces of this are still visible. The roof has a very small crack (see photos).
