Hurricane Lanterns by Winged Wheel

Below you will find an overview of the Winged Wheel hurricane lanterns that have passed through my hands over the years.

Winged Wheel first model

It is difficult to determine with absolute certainty, but in my opinion this is an early pre-war model of the Winged Wheel hurricane lantern, which was later known as the No. 350.

With a height of 19 cm, this hurricane lantern is comparable in size to the Feuerhand 175.

A notable difference compared to later versions is that this lantern only features the Winged Wheel logo, without the additional markings and extensive text that can be found on later Winged Wheel models.

Winged Wheel 350

This is a later version of the smaller Winged Wheel hurricane lantern.

Unlike the earlier model, this version does feature additional markings with the following text:

Winged Wheel
Made in Japan
No. 350

This hurricane lantern also has a height of 19 cm, making it comparable in size to the Feuerhand 175.

In my opinion, it is probably not a coincidence that this model was given the number 350, exactly double the number of the Feuerhand 175.

In addition to this tin-plated version, the Winged Wheel No. 350 was also produced in several other colours, including yellow, red, blue, green, and purple.
