Val d'Or was the company of Charles Goujon; from 1928 onwards the company no longer produced hurricane lanterns, in order to focus entirely on tools. This lamp therefore most likely dates from before 1928.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eA skater's lamp was originally intended for ice skaters, who in the late 19th and early 20th century carried one in the evening to light their way on the ice. A second lamp was sometimes left on the bank to mark where their belongings were.
