The lamp was most likely made between 1880 and 1900.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eIn Germany these little lanterns are also known as liliput lamps. They are small kerosene lamps, originally carried while ice skating and later put to all sorts of uses, as a night light or a guide light among them.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eThe lantern burns kerosene and has been fitted with a new wick. The globe, as far as I can tell, is still the original one.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eFor its age the lantern is in excellent condition — I rarely come across one this clean.
