It is in fantastic condition and fitted with original Val St. Lambert D.S.4 glass.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eThe lamp is in full working order—the wick holder moves up and down smoothly. In my opinion, this piece is very close to \u003cem\u003eNew Old Stock\u003c\/em\u003e: it shows no signs of heavy use. It has two small holes in the top where a plate would have been mounted. It was lit at some point, but likely never used underground.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eAccording to various sources, this is a \u003cstrong\u003eMaster Hewer’s Lamp\u003c\/strong\u003e (Meesterhouwerslamp) produced by Hubert Joris, also known as Joris Lampe. These lamps are known to be very similar in style and construction to Wolf miner’s lamps.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eIt makes a wonderfully atmospheric oil lamp, but even unlit it stands out as a striking decorative piece suitable for any interior.
