This is a very old and atmospheric piece, probably used on board a ship as a \u003cstrong\u003ecabin lamp\u003c\/strong\u003e to provide interior lighting.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eIts age is evident in the construction: the design strongly suggests maritime use, and unlike later ship lamps (which typically used round glass and oil reservoirs), this example still features its \u003cstrong\u003eearly-style glass panels\u003c\/strong\u003e.\u003cbr\u003eThe combination of \u003cstrong\u003esteel with brass details\u003c\/strong\u003e gives it a beautiful, authentic presence.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eThe small decorative knob on top of the chimney is a later addition.
